See grant: A cell culture model of innate immunity for FSHD for Charles P Emerson PhD.
Immunity has a well-documented role in FSHD muscle pathology, but there are currently no cell or animal models of immunity in muscle disease. This project undertakes to develop an in vitro model of FSHD innate immunity and to use this model to investigate the underlying disease mechanisms that initiate the FSHD innate immune response. Findings will be a basis for development of an in vivo model of FSHD innate immunity to develop and test FSHD therapeutics.
