Professor

Department of Biological Chemistry, UC Irvine

The Yokomori laboratory is interested in how chromatin structure and dynamics influence genome integrity and functions during cell cycle and cellular differentiation. We focus on the critical roles of the conserved and essential protein complexes, cohesins and condensins, in chromatin modulation important for gene regulation and DNA repair. Through these studies, Dr. Yokomori hopes to elucidate how perturbation of chromosome organization results in human disorders, such as Cornelia de Lange Syndrome (CdLS) and FSHD muscular dystrophy.
