Jorge A. González Chapa attended medical school at Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León and later completed a Master of Science and a PhD with a specialty in immunology. Part of his postgraduate training took place at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and the University of Hamburg in Germany. Currently, Dr. Chapa is a post-doctoral fellow in the Lood Laboratory within the Division of Rheumatology at the University of Washington. His research is focused on translational studies in autoimmune diseases, including myositis and myopathies, with a particular interest in the roles of neutrophils and mitochondria in disease progression and severity.
