Some people are visionaries and some people are doers. George and Lynn have a nice mix of both! In the late1990’s they began funding FSH research through their family foundation. The only thing they were missing was the knowledge of how to raise additional funds. They met Rick and Terry Colella in 2004, shortly before the first Friends of FSH Research auction and quickly saw the answer. Shortly thereafter, they joined forces with the Colella’s.
George and Lynn have contributed their time, talents and resources in many ways. From auction procurement to printing, there isn’t much they won’t do! George currently lends his IT expertise to manage the website, serves as the Board Secretary and assists the Scientific Advisory Board. Lynn serves on the board as well as managing the auction planning process, utilizing her exceptional organization skills.
Their commitment to Friends of FSH Research is a natural fit due to their common goal of basic research. They like that Friends is a very lean organization with a very specific focus and added, “The people involved really want it to be obsolete. That is, to have found a cure. The day a cure is on the market, I expect Friends to have a big party and disband, having reached their, and our, goal.”
George believes that “if you are not learning, you are not alive.” He spends his free time doing software development and extensive reading. Lynn enjoys hiking, CrossFit, cooking and volunteering with Girl Scouts. She does CrossFit, in part, so that she is able to assist George as needed.
Thank you for all you do! Lynn and George’s involvement has been a priceless gift to Friends of FSH Research and to all those that share our goal to find a treatment or cure for FSH muscular dystrophy.
