Junior Professor

Aix-Marseille University, MMG department

Dr. Testa received his PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” in 2016. He is currently a Junior Professor at Aix-Marseille University, working in the Marseille Medical Genetics laboratory. His research focuses on developing innovative disease models through multidisciplinary approaches. With a strong background in Skeletal Muscle Tissue Engineering (SMTE), he has extensive experience in stem cell and skeletal muscle biology, 3D modeling, and bioprinting using various printing systems and biomaterials.

Driven by the limitations of current animal models in replicating the pathophysiology of FSHD and the often poor translational value of preclinical findings, Dr. Testa aims to develop an advanced human-based model to improve disease understanding and accelerate therapeutic development.
