Mitsuru Sasaki-Honda received his PhD in biological science at University of Tokyo in Japan. During his PhD and first postdoctoral period, he stayed at Dr. Hidetoshi Sakurai’s group at the Center for iPS Cell Research and Application (CiRA) to establish and utilize the patient-derived FSHD iPSC model. Supported by the long-term oversea postdoctoral fellowship program of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), he joined Dr. Alvaro Rada-Iglesias’s group at Institute of Biomedicine and Biotechnology of Cantabria (IBBTEC) in Spain. Currently he is working at both the labs to proceed several projects for FSHD as a postdoctoral researcher. He is also a core member of FSHD JAPAN, the patient advocacy group for FSHD in Japan, where he has been volunteering for more than 10 years.
