Histone Therapeutics is making progress with 3R-ON technology, a first-of-its-kind tool designed to activate silenced genes. While the Histone Tx originally explored other options, they recently shifted their strategy to focus on a highly promising new therapeutic target called Adiponectin. Currently, Histone Tx is redesigning the vehicles used to deliver the therapy so they are safer and do not trigger an unwanted immune response in the body. They are also studying how turning on Adiponectin affects energy and inflammation in FSHD muscle cells. In parallel, the team confirmed in the lab that using 3R-ON to boost a protective protein called LRIF1 successfully shuts down the entire toxic DUX4 disease process that causes FSHD. Finally, HTx is developing an artificial intelligence model to study DNA patterns, which will help predict exactly where the 3R-ON tool will be most effective for future treatments.
