The latest news from Friends of FSH Research: 1. '26 Research Funding exceeds $1M!  Research Funding for 2026 Exceeds $1M THANK YOU! Grants were issued in the United States to The Fred Hutch - Seattle, St. Louis University, The University of Utah, Histone Therapeutics - Seattle and Springbok Analytics - Virginia. International Grants were issued to Leiden University - Netherlands, Newcastle University - England, Universita Cattolica - Rome, Kyoto University - Japan, and Aix Marseille University - France. Read below to learn more about the grants to Could therapies that have already gone through clinical trials for other diseases be used to treat FSHD? Research funding from to Drs. Matthijs Vlasveld and Silvere Van Der Maarel at Leiden University aims to test whether ATR-258, a next-generation beta-2-adrenergic receptor agonist that has been tested previously in clinical trials for other diseases, is effective in silencing DUX4 and could be a candidate for treatment of FSHD. Why is it that some FSHD muscle cells turn on DUX4 and others do not? Work that we have recently co-funded with the Chris Carrino Foundation being conducted in Dr. Fran Sverdrup's lab at Saint Louis University aims to tackle this question, then test whether it can be used to find new ways to treat FSHD.
